This year CPNYC is celebrating the holiday with a festive carnival complete with arts and crafts, face painting, a bounce house and haunted classroom. Special thanks to Madison International Realty and their employees for providing all of our program participants with fabulous costumes! From Bat Girl to Wonder Woman to Flash to Superman, the children had a truly imaginative and fun-filled holiday.
Many thanks to those who supported the Summer Happy Hour at Ketch Brewhouse. With over one hundred supporters in attendance, the event was an overwhelming success! Our guests had the opportunity to mingle on a private rooftop overlooking the Financial District while learning more about the mission and services of the organization. The evening included a raffle and silent auction, featuring prizes generously donated by Saks Fifth Avenue, e.l.f. Cosmetics, Little Frog, Madewell and Away Luggage.
The Summer Happy Hour was presented by CPNYC's Young Professionals Council, a group of change makers dedicated to embracing and empowering children of incarcerated parents.
Thank you to the New York City Department of Corrections for participating in a Day of Service at Children of Promise, NYC. Employees spent one-on-one time with students reading books, playing basketball, completing art projects and sharing boxing techniques. We appreciate your efforts in providing our participants with tools that will allow them to grow and flourish.
This Father’s Day, John Legend recited a number of powerful letters written by children to their incarcerated fathers. Legend discussed the joy of being able to form a strong father-child bond with his daughter, something that can all too often be affected by a parent’s involvement in the criminal justice system. “We have to make love the focus,” Legend asserted.
Within the past 30 years, the number of young people with an incarcerated parent has increased fivefold. Letter-writing acts as a bridge between children and their incarcerated loved ones, an initiative that Children of Promise, NYC incorporates into the Afterschool and Summer Day Camp Program.

Our sincerest thanks to OppenheimerFunds for choosing to partner with Children of Promise, NYC for a day of service. A group of employees from across the company spent the morning and afternoon applying fresh coats of paint in our playground area and beautifying the side garden with cheerful plants. We appreciate your energy and effort in creating a welcoming environment for the children and families we serve.
Children of Promise, NYC (CPNYC) was thrilled to participate in Viacommunity Day for the 6th consecutive year. On Friday morning, April 28th, we welcomed dozens of Viacom employees to our headquarters in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Thanks to their efforts, CPNYC's front entrance is now adorned with cheerful plants, the cafeteria is renewed with fresh coats of paint and the outdoor playground is brightened with spring color. This beautification will have an immediate impact on the hundreds of children and families who walk through our doors on a daily basis.
We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all those who joined us for #Pizza4Promise, the agency's first fundraising event of 2017. The evening was a tremendous success raising over $3,500 and attracting more than 200 people! While supporting the mission and work of CPNYC, guests enjoyed all-you-can-eat gourmet pizza and two free drinks. Many thanks to our sponsors: Fortina Pizza, Union Beer, Skurnik Wine, Coca Cola Beverages and Jarritos.
#Pizza4Promise was hosted by CPNYC's Young Professional Council (YPC), a community of change makers who are committed to embracing and empowering children of incarcerated parents.
