CPNYC would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all of our incredible partners who collaborated with CPNYC for our annual Holiday Celebration. With the support of Paula Fendall Christmas Giving, W Girls, FPWA, Jack and Jill Foundation Brooklyn Chapter and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, we were able to distribute personalized gifts to over 175 children and families. The Urban Mosaic Center for Social Justice also participated in the event, providing a special holiday meal for our students. Finally, CPNYC would like to thank all of the volunteers who spent hours wrapping presents, decorating the facility, painting nails, preparing for the event and working one-on-one with our participants. Happy Holidays to all!
This year CPNYC is celebrating the holiday with a festive carnival complete with arts and crafts, face painting, a bounce house and haunted classroom. Special thanks to Madison International Realty and their employees for providing all of our program participants with fabulous costumes! From Bat Girl to Wonder Woman to Flash to Superman, the children had a truly imaginative and fun-filled holiday.
Sincerest thanks to the District 8 employees of T.J.Maxx for dedicating their afternoon to volunteering in our after-school program and decorating our balcony doors for Halloween.
Our very own Kayla sat down with the Today Show to discuss her experience of having a father in prison. Watch the video below to hear the incredible story of this resilient 7-year old and learn how CPNYC is supporting her and her family overcome the challenges of parental incarceration.
Congratulations to Children of Promise, NYC participant, Legasii Fox, who has been selected to serve on the Kidbox Kids Board of Directors. As a social good company, Kidbox delivers one item of clothing to a child in need for every full box of clothing ordered on their website. While speaking with CBS NY, Legasii shares the impact that CPNYC has on his life as well as his future goals in serving on the Kidbox Kids Board of Directors.
Many thanks to those who supported the Summer Happy Hour at Ketch Brewhouse. With over one hundred supporters in attendance, the event was an overwhelming success! Our guests had the opportunity to mingle on a private rooftop overlooking the Financial District while learning more about the mission and services of the organization. The evening included a raffle and silent auction, featuring prizes generously donated by Saks Fifth Avenue, e.l.f. Cosmetics, Little Frog, Madewell and Away Luggage.
The Summer Happy Hour was presented by CPNYC's Young Professionals Council, a group of change makers dedicated to embracing and empowering children of incarcerated parents.
Thank you to the New York City Department of Corrections for participating in a Day of Service at Children of Promise, NYC. Employees spent one-on-one time with students reading books, playing basketball, completing art projects and sharing boxing techniques. We appreciate your efforts in providing our participants with tools that will allow them to grow and flourish.
