The Development & Communications Manager will play a key role in supporting the organization’s fundraising, donor engagement, and communications strategies. Working directly with the Director of Development & Communications, this individual will support individual giving, volunteer-to-donor conversion strategies, campaign messaging, and day-to-day departmental operations while helping position CPNYC as a thought leader in social justice, child well-being, and mental health.Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Development
Support and execute donor cultivation and stewardship strategies, including donor touchpoints, briefings, tours, and follow-ups.
Draft fundraising materials, e-vites, appeal letters, and board decks.
Maintain donor database (Salesforce), including data entry, reporting, and segmentation.
Manage volunteer-to-donor conversion campaigns and matched giving strategies.
Track KPIs and support Director with reports, pipeline strategy, and impact storytelling.
Identify and research new funding opportunities including corporate matches and volunteer giving.
Support grant proposal and site visit preparation with scheduling, packet creation, and logistics.
Assist in coordinating corporate service days and volunteer events in collaboration with program staff.
External Communications & Digital Content
Lead the development and distribution of donor-facing communications, including monthly newsletters, impact updates, and acknowledgments.
Maintain and update website content and images (Squarespace).
Draft and distribute press releases and agency announcements.
Support CEO positioning and thought leadership efforts with timely storytelling and media outreach.
Direct and manage the Social Media Coordinator on campaigns aligned with fundraising and advocacy goals.
Design one-pagers, flyers, and decks in Canva or similar platforms.
Track and maintain updated program impact data and metrics for all communications use.
Events & Project Management
Provide logistical support for fundraising events, donor briefings, and corporate volunteer experiences.
Assist in planning and executing cultivation events and giving days.
Represent the organization at community, donor, and corporate events as needed.
Submit weekly updates and track progress toward departmental goals.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
3+ years’ experience in nonprofit development, communications and fundraising.
Demonstrated success in coordinating fundraising and cultivation events.
Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
Experience with Salesforce CRM and Mailchimp preferred.
Working knowledge of Squarespace and Canva.
Experience managing cross-functional projects in fast-paced, mission-driven environments.

Respond to community members and established CPNYC volunteers looking to become Project D.R.E.A.M Mentors.

Survey program staff regularly in order to prioritize mentorship assignments to CPNYC scholars.
Mentor Program Specific Responsibilities
Conduct Mentor interviews, orientations, and training.
Assess all potential mentors for appropriateness to the program and / or refer out for alternative
Develop post training/post matching evaluations so that mentors can provide feedback on every step of their onboarding process to ensure effectiveness.
Review Mentor Engagement Forms and provide best practices to mentors and share with program staff as needed.
Create and lead three 8–10-week Mentee Readiness Programs in both the Bronx and Brooklyn location to ready scholars to work with mentors.
Develop and manage mentor policies, procedures, and standards with support from Director of Development
Develop group engagement strategies such as mentor recognition programs, newsletters and special events.
Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports on mentor participation.
Liaise continually with mentors, mentees, and parents on a weekly basis.

Position Overview:
The primary responsibility of the Mental Health Clinician is to provide clinical services to 35-40 participants and their family members and complete documentation regarding the provision of these services. The Mental Health Clinician also supports the agency in supervising Clinical Mental Health Interns and in other necessary responsibilities of the Mental Health team as necessary. This position reports to the Vice President of Mental Health Services and works closely with the President and Founder.
Essential Job Functions
Provide clinical services to 30-35 individual participants and their family members, through weekly individual and family psychotherapy sessions of 30-45 minutes in length
Conduct case management for all individuals and families who are impacted by incarceration through advocacy in schools, court and contact with ACS and foster care agencies
Complete all clinical documentation to sustain the regulations and requirements outlined by the Office of Mental Health, including Progress Notes, Contact Notes, Treatment Plans, Annual Comprehensive Updates, Assessments, Consent Forms, and any other related necessary documentation
Coordinate all necessary forms of communication and introductions to new mentors and therapeutic supportive team members
Facilitate monthly one-hour workshops on therapeutic themes to best support mentors’ abilities to best support and form strong attachments with the children in the program
Task-manage 1-2 Mental Health Interns on administrative responsibilities, including clinical paperwork
Work in collaboration with the Vice President of Mental Health Services and the President in completing applications for grants, awards and certifications for the mental health department and the ADA requires employers to keep confidential any medical information they learn about any applicant or employee. Medical information includes not only a diagnosis or treatments, but also the fact that an individual has requested or is receiving a reasonable accommodation as these opportunities arise
Work in collaboration with the President and the Vice President of Mental Health services to communicate the mission, services and structure of our organization to outside agencies, press, and universities as these inquiries arise

As the Educational Specialist, for 50% of the time, the individual will provide lesson planning, curriculum development and structured programming for elementary, middle, and high –school aged children on the CPNYC’s after-school academic and enrichment program offerings, to assure alignment with NYS and NYC learning standards. The Education Specialist will also identify suitable curricula to help program staff create activity plans which incorporate lesson plans that strengthen basic literacy, numeracy skills and stimulate interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) subjects.
Essential Job Functions
· Provide leadership through observation and training to program staff, Counselors and Tutors, with the necessary support, to improve their teaching and facilitation skills
· Create activity plans/lesson plans for staff and foster continuous quality improvement through effective supervision and personal development of educational programming
· Manage the implementation of academic components that support youths such as virtual learning, iReady and varying educational resources. Source, develop, implement, and adjust curriculum and educational systems appropriate to current climate; ensure that structured lesson plans are aligned with NYS and NYC learning standards
· Manage and conduct staff meetings/trainings that reinforce staff culture, classroom management expectations and CPNYC policies with the goal of developing each counselor we have on staff in every category
· Provide individualized academic assessments of program participants utilizing their report cards to identify strengths and weaknesses and determine academic goals and liaise with CPNYC program staff to identify and address students’ educational needs and challenges
· Serve as liaison between CPNYC and 75 schools in CPNYC’s network; coordinating school-based outreach to ensure that schools involved with CPNYC’s program have fulfilled student enrollment and that student progress is regularly reviewed and evaluated
· Follow-up with students’ school pertaining to behavior and discipline to ensure in line with CPNYC and NYC school policies
· Liaise with parents, teachers, and school administrators to identify and address students’ educational needs and challenges
· Respond to Program-related inquiries to neighboring schools, parents, and staff
· Manage the CPNYC afterschool incentive and rewards program while developing new ideas on how to improve it
· Identify external resources to enhance CPNYC’s education program elements such as homework help and academic tutoring
· Participate in Lead Counseling as necessary and virtual learning in building
· Collaborate with Volunteer Manager to match youth; including tools on how to match youth with help needed
· Maintain accurate and timely records for each participant according to CPNYC’s standards as well as synthesize and analyze data for reports. Provide reports as needed to the Vice-President of Programs using agency electronic CRM, Salesforce
· Identify, evaluate, and propose solutions to program areas that need special attention
· Manage the academic components and requirements of the DYCD Workscope as required by our funders
· Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skill and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited university in Education, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, or related field and has a global perspective characterized by cross cultural experience
· Minimum of five (5) years expertise in curriculum development and implementation is required
· Minimum of four (4) years teaching at an elementary, middle, or high school is preferred.
· High level of organization and ability to respond to difficult situations promptly with tact and diplomacy required
· Excellent written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate clear, persuasive, and concise thoughts
· Proven track record of successful internal and external relationship management with the ability to propel connections towards mutually beneficial outcomes
· Strong interpersonal skills and experience in professional interaction with staff, the general public and community leaders
· Attention to detail, flexibility, diplomacy, and confidentiality when interacting with board members and donors
· Functions optimally when multi-tasking and managing multiple projects
· Familiarity with developing lesson plans for after-school programs is preferred
· New York State Teaching credentials preferred
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
· Salesforce entry and update of youth
COMPENSATION:
Commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate. The salary range for this position is $55K - $65K per annum.
