  • Title: After School Counselor

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    CPNYC is seeking to hire Part-Time After School Counselors / Group Leaders for our Brooklyn location. Must work Monday - Friday 2PM – 6PM

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Implement the CPNYC curriculum, helping school age children improve literacy competencies, values, and physical fitness in an activity-based environment 

    • Assist senior counselor with planning and creating innovative age-appropriate activities 

    • Develop lesson plans to conduct them daily; read, tell stories, lead songs and games 

    • Help maintain enrollment and daily attendance records 

    • Assist children with homework and guide students in their academic growth 

    • Other job-related duties as described in job description 

    • To conduct field trips or attend events, individuals will use public transportation or traverse city streets, occasionally ascend/descend stairs and exposed to outside weather conditions 

    • An employee is expected to stand 50% of during the shift

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum of an Associate’s degree or college credits, with relevant experience

    COMPENSATION:

    Commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate. This position range is $15.00 - $25.00 per hour.     POSITION OVERVIEW:

    Visual Arts Activity Specialists organize, lead, and promote interest in art activities. Instructors utilize and adapt the New York State Arts Learning Standards in order to create an engaging and awarding activity that encourages participation in CPNYC programs.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    •Organize, lead, and promote interest in arts activities such as theater, music, visual art, photography, digital media, chorus, dance, and percussion.

    •Organize performance groups and direct their rehearsals.

    •Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.

    •Ascertain and interpret group interests, evaluate equipment and facilities, and adapt activities to meet the student’s needs.

    •Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.

    •Explain principles, techniques, and safety procedures to participants in the activities, and demonstrate use of materials and equipment.

    •Greet new arrivals to activities, introducing them to other students, explaining the rules, and encouraging participation.

    •Evaluate activity to determine if they are producing desired results.

    •Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.

    •Progressive development of student skills leading to a final project

    •Provide support during the academic / homework hour

    •Promotes positive character development in all youth

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, & EXPERIENCE:

    •Associate Degree or Bachelors in Art

    •Minimum of two years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required

    •Must have experience successfully teaching and instructing youth in the Arts.

    •Must have a passion for CPNYC’s mission and demonstrated interest in the field of education and youth development

    •Must be responsible, reliable and punctual.

    •Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required

    •Must be adaptable to the work environment such as hybrid program model availability: on-site and remote including ability to work from home or other non-school site location readily and throughout the day.

    •Must be remote access prepared which includes including web/internet/broadband accessibility and reliable cell phone devices equipped for texting and talking.

    •Must possess and be able to maintain throughout the assignment; the technology (hardware, software, internet access and a working cell phone) required to perform the duties of the position including communications with supervisor and other staff members

    •Physical requirements, including ability to wear all PPE required, climb stairs, lift children, perform CPR, communicate by voice, monitor and evaluate events visually and aurally.

    •As an essential worker it is expected at this time, that you have schedule flexibility based on State, Local and Federal pandemic management conditions and requirements (e.g. School closures, training, emergency orders)

    •Certifications and credentials in respective skill-based activity highly preferred

  • Title: Licensed Masters Social Worker

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    The primary responsibility of the Mental Health Clinician is to provide clinical services to 15-18 clients and their family members and complete documentation regarding the provision of these services. The Director of Mental Health also supports the agency in supervising the Clinicians and in other necessary responsibilities of the Mental Health team as necessary. This position reports to the Director of Mental Health Services and works closely with the Program Director.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Provide clinical services to individual participants and their family members, through weekly individual and family psychotherapy sessions of 30-45 minutes in length

    • Conduct case management for individuals and families who are impacted by incarceration through advocacy in schools, court and contact with ACS and foster care agencies

    • Complete clinical documentation to sustain the regulations and requirements outlined by the Office of Mental Health, including Progress Notes, Contact Notes, Treatment Plans, Annual Comprehensive Updates, Assessments, Consent Forms, and any other related necessary documentation

    • Coordinate all necessary forms of communication and introductions to new mentors and therapeutic supportive team members

    • Work in collaboration with the Director of Mental Health services to communicate the mission, services and structure of our organization to outside agencies, press, and universities as these inquiries arise

    • Perform other duties as assigned

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE:

    • Licensed Master’s degree in Social Work is required

    • SIFI Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI) certification preferred

    • Bilingual in English and Spanish (especially important for Bronx location)

    • Minimum of three years experience in social work field

    • A demonstrated ability to coordinate, inspire, and motivate others

    • High level of communication skills, both written and oral

    • Experience working in an ethnically diverse community

    • Clear background check and clear fingerprinting from OMH

    • Current CPR/First Aid certification

    • Excellent computer skills

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    Human Resources Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department, as well as execute all initiatives implemented by the HR Director. The HR Manager will manage all administrative functions of the HR department, specialize in two more functions of the HR profession, as outlined by the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and under the supervision of the HR Director will gain experience in the other areas. The HR Manager will uphold and enforce all policies, procedures and common practices of Children of Promise, NYC.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Assist with the full cycle of recruitment for all positions

    • Develop relationships with department managers to assess and determine mutual and effective hiring practices, within CPNYC guidelines

    • Follow position requisition process, ensuring position requisitions are provided for each position and updated

    • Coordinate with the Director of HR to post positions internally and externally on applicable job boards

    • Screen resumes and/or source candidates to ensure best quality talent

    • Conduct preliminary interviews and follow up communication

    • Coordinate interviews for Director of HR and/or appropriate team member as necessary

    • Compare notes the Director of HR (if applicable) to determine final candidate

    • Update recruitment logs, such as: vacancy reports, Excel or Excel applicant tracking, Intern Tracking, etc.

    • Attend job fairs or other career networking event to attract top talent and Interns

    Onboarding

    • Responsible for the executing the Offer of Employment process, including but not limited to, extending verbal offer, preparing official contingent offer letters, checking references and background checks etc.

    • Prepare new hire packets, ensuring all forms and information are updated and contains current compliance documents

    • Verify information and documentation of hire packets, checking for completeness and accuracy

    • Submit background checks for new hires

    Regulatory Compliance

    • Conduct full cycle OCFS / SEL Background checks for all new hires and interns

    • Create new employee files and information packets

    • Manage OMH active employee portal

    • Coordinate with Office Manager and Intrinsic Technology to issue email addresses and Office 365 account

    • Coordinate with Office Manager to facilitate new hire orientations, ensuring food is ordered, room is available

    • Issue laptop (if applicable)

    • Maintain employee HR files and HRIS database (Paycom)

    • Ensure agency wide compliance with all local, state, and federal laws

    • Facilitate and manage the completion of agency wide OCFS mandatory trainings

    • Complete incident reporting and OSHA compliance

    • Manage compliance matters including COVID-19 regulations, Workers ‘Compensation, OSHA, NY Paid Leave, and harassment

    • Respond to unemployment claims

    Team Member Satisfaction

    • Properly introduce new hires to the organization via email blast •

    • Organize and promote employee engagement events to increase employee morale and retention

    • Create and facilitate agency wide employee recognition program

    Internship Program

    • Assist in the recruitment, pairing and onboarding of Interns for CPNYC Internship Program

    • Manage and cultivate meaningful relationships with surrounding colleges and institutions to create a pipeline of interns

    • Coordinate on-boarding of Interns for CPNYC Internship Program

    • Ensure intern stipends are paid in accordance with the schedule

    Employee/Labor Relations

    • Respond to employee requests and inquires in a timely and professional manner

    • Prepare and process employee verification request

    Benefits & Compensation

    • Administer benefits including open enrollment, claims resolution, change reporting, and communicating benefits information to employees

    • Manage all COBRA, PFL, and FMLA requests

    • Manage all vacation, sick, and personal time requests

    • Complete EAP reporting

    • Evaluate wage analysis and ensure alignment with local, state, and federal laws

    • Maintain organizational structure

    Performance Management

    • Conduct 30-day check-in for all new hires in conjunction with Mangers

    • Administer and track agency wide 90-day, 6 month, and annual performance evaluations

    • At two years’ experience processing payroll required, for nonprofit preferred

    • At least one year’s experience Nonprofit/community-based organization

    • Knowledge working with HRIS and Salesforce, Paycom experience a plus (ADP, Peoplesoft, etc.)

    • Proficient Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Excel, Word and Adobe Professional

    COMPENSATION:

    Commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate. This position range is $60,000 - $65,000 per annum.     POSITION OVERVIEW:

    The Junior Accountant reports to the Director of Finance and coordinates with Staff Accountant, maintains daily fiscal operation applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    As the Volunteer and Mentor Engagement Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in the lifeblood of our organization, driving the core functions of our mentorship and volunteer programs, Project D.R.E.A.M. Your mission will be to oversee the recruitment, matching, support, and supervision of our mentors and volunteers, ensuring a transformative experience for both the children we serve and the incredible individuals dedicating their time. Working closely with the Development team, you'll also engage mentors and volunteers deeper into the fabric of CPNYC, cultivating lasting relationships that support our mission and community.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Outreach & Recruitment: Be the face of CPNYC in the community, forging strong relationships and partnerships to support our mission. Implement strategies to attract dedicated volunteers and mentors.

    • Volunteer Management: Conduct orientations, manage schedules, and oversee the volunteer experience across various operational areas, ensuring a rewarding engagement for all volunteers.

    • Mentorship Program Management: Lead the charge in mentor-mentee relationships, from conducting orientations to ensuring the highest standards of safety and engagement are met, fostering impactful connections.

    • Program Development & Evaluation: Continuously assess and refine our mentorship and volunteer programs to maximize effectiveness, maintaining meticulous records and leveraging data to inform decisions.

    • Community Engagement & Cultivation: Elevate our presence and impact through strategic volunteer events, social media, and community outreach, enhancing our network of supporters and donors.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Associate degree with minimum of 5 years’ experience or Bachelor’s degree, in Education, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, or a related field, with a keen global and cross-cultural perspective.

    • At least three years of experience in leading volunteer or mentorship initiatives.

    • Proficiency in CRM databases (Salesforce a plus) and Microsoft Office Suite.

    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for building relationships and engaging diverse groups.

    • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
