One Million Emergency Response Campaign

Direct Relief for Families Left Behind

The Challenge

Children of Promise, NYC (CPNYC) has redefined community-based support for 16 years, serving children of incarcerated parents with mental health, academic, and family-strengthening wraparound services. Yet today, families are facing an unprecedented crisis. The One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBBA) has stripped lifelines like SNAP, Medicaid, and after-school programs—leaving thousands of NYC children and caregivers with nowhere to turn.

Our Response

Through the One Million Emergency Response Campaign, we are delivering direct cash assistance to stabilize families during back-to-school, Thanksgiving, and the holiday season. This support gives parents the dignity and flexibility to buy food, clothing, toiletries, and essentials to meet urgent needs when it matters most.

Why Direct Cash Works

Research and our own experience prove that unrestricted cash relief stabilizes households, reduces child poverty, and improves mental health outcomes. During COVID-19 crisis, CPNYC deployed over $500,000 in direct cash assistance to families across Brooklyn and the Bronx. The results were immediate, pragmatic, and effective.

Your Impact

$1,250 stabilizes 5 families.

$5,000 supports 20 families with food & hygiene items.

$10,000 strengthens 40 families with meals and essentials.

$25,000 transforms 100 families with groceries, school supplies, and holiday gift cards.

$50,000 helps 200 families overcome the burdens of rent, transportation, and the digital divide
